How To Make Your Blog Stand Out

How To Make Your Blog Stand Out

How To Make Your Blog Stand Out
Whether you’re blogging for profit, pleasure or promotion, your primary goal will always be to get as many eyeballs as possible on your posts. As the bigger kids on the blogging block – like Daily Blog Tips – have proven, it’s possible to start from scratch and attract a substantial, highly profitable following over time.
Some of the most popular niche sites such as Mashable began as hobby blogs and now serve up millions of page views per month. If you want to get to that level, there are a few things you should keep in mind when structuring your blog’s content and layout.

Niche It Up
First and foremost, memorable blogs tend to zero in on a lower-level niche at a particular level of specificity. For instance, you won’t have much success by focusing a blog on “technology”, as it’s too broad a topic. Google, Bing and the like will favour the heavyweights when it comes to search engine rankings and visitors are more likely to drift towards a trusted source. A more reasonable niche to pursue would be “creative industry technology”. It’s a lot easier to corner a smaller niche than it is to dominate a broad swath of the market, and you can deliver higher-quality content to your readers by narrowing your focus.

Avoid the Clichés and Find Your Voice
One of the main problems with most bloggers is that they use a generic approach to crafting blog posts and entries. While such utilitarian writing styles have their place in standard reviews, tutorials and news items, they don’t really resonate with readers and are extremely forgettable. When is the last time you saw a post on Yahoo News or even Mashable that really stood out to you? Bloggers like Seth Godin and James Altucher have a distinctive writing style that’s easily recognisable, which is something you should attempt to emulate in your own way.

Take Risks and Be Passionate
When you take an unconventional stand, people respect your integrity and will debate you on your point of view. Don’t be controversial just for the sake of being edgy, but avoid vanilla-flavored boilerplate op-eds that are forgettable. In addition, you should blog about something that really lights your fire intellectually. When you work on something you love, your passion shines through the underlying content and attracts a dedicated, die-hard core of readers that are extremely loyal. Furthermore, those fanatical readers often do your evangelising for you and promote your blog in an organic manner through social media channels.

Build a Destination & a Reputation
Probably the most brilliant thing Apple ever did with the iPhone was to create an all-inclusive platform for users. In other words, they crafted an entire ecosystem instead of just an operating system or a piece of hardware. Alongside iTunes, the iPhone forms a one-stop iOS destination for apps and media content. Your blog should be a one-stop shop for information on your niche that your readers will immediately jump to when they need advice. Make sure your deep content is well-indexed and easy to find, and invest time in perfecting internal linking to increase time-on-site and boost page views.

Parting Words
The most important thing to remember is that very few people strike gold on their first attempt on any given blog. If a successful, high-traffic blog is integral to your overall business plan, you’ll just have to tough it out and plug away until you discover the magic formula. Finally, always remember that all the fancy software and SEO tactics in the world can’t replace quality content that delivers value. Craft relatable content that first and foremost helps your audience, and the traffic will follow sooner or later.

3 Ways to Use Blogging as a Learning and Studying Tool

3 Ways to Use Blogging as a Learning and Studying Tool

As all of us bloggers know, blogging has so much potential to transform so many different parts of our lives. Blogging can help us build a career, and it can also help us understand how we think as we formulate our opinions into words while sharing with others. But did you know blogging has the incredible possibility of helping us learn new concepts and study these concepts we’ve just learned? If you are a current student, or merely a life-long learner, here’s how to transform your blogging skills into a learning tool.

Blog About a New Skill That You're Learning:

The learning process is always greatly facilitated when you are writing about what you are learning. Learning a new skill can be tough, but if you make your intention to learn something new public, you’ll be aided by the fact that you have an audience that wants to see you successfully go through the learning process. If you blog as you learn, you can share both your accomplishments and your challenges so that’s a learning experience for all involved.

Open Up a Space For Discussion To Get Advice From Other Experts:

Learning via blogging is very different from learning in a classroom setting. The one problem with using blogging to learn is that you don’t have easy access to a teacher or mentor. This problem, however, is easily solved, if you can set up a forum or a discussion board that attract experts who can help you and help your readers as you learn together.

You Learn a New Concept, Create a Blog Article In Your Own Words:

If you are still not sure how to go about learning a new skill through blogging, be systematic about it. Each time you learn a new concept that falls under the new skill you are trying to learn, write a blog article about it. Explain to readers in detail the theories you’ve learned, but also demonstrate the concept as it is applied. For example, if you are learning how to design a website, write an article about the steps you took. Then, upload and post a video of your screen as you’re designing the website. Offer some troubleshooting tips based on the struggles you encountered as you were learning.
Using blogging as a learning and studying tool can be helpful whether or not you are an actual college student. If you are in school, it’s a great study aid that you can refer back to as you study for tests. If you are simply trying to learn a new skill to improve your career prospects, blogging is an effortless, collaborative, and cost-effective way to do just that. Don’t limit yourself! Good luck!

10 Tips To Reduce Your Blogger's Blog Bounce Rate

10 Tips To Reduce Your Blogger's Blog Bounce Rate

How do you know that you have a successful blog?

When your readers are drawn to it like bees to honey, stay longer, read more, and reduce your bounce rate while they are at it.

What is the bounce rate, one might ask?

Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page.

Bounce Rate = Total Number of Visitors Viewing One Page : Total Number of Visits

Why does it matter to your blog?

Simply put, bounce rate measures the quality of your blog from the readers’ point of view. The more compelling your pages, the longer visitors will stay on your site and CONVERT.

Thus, it’s extremely important to reduce your bounce rate as much as possible.

And here are some tips to do just that.

Let’s start with the most basic/self-explanatory/overlooked ways.

1 - Tagline: Make sure you have a tagline giving visitors an idea what your blog is all about. If they don’t see it right away, they might leave thinking that this site might not relate to what they are looking for. A good place for that is your header.

2 - Keywords: Yes, the all-important keywords… Optimize for the wrong ones and your bounce rate will go through the roof, since your search engine traffic will not find what they are looking for.

3 - Good Layout and Design: The look of your blog can make your visitors leave or stay. Stick with a clean, profession, uncluttered design. Many recommended Thesis theme for better bounce rate – for these exact reasons

4 - Great Title: An intriguing title will always reduce blog bounce rate by cultivating reader curiosity.

5 - Improve Your Site's Loading Speed: Nobody wants to be kept waiting, and that includes your site’s visitors. Don’t test their patience by making them wait for your whole site to finish loading. One common cause of slow page loads is having way too much widgets or plugins installed in your site. You could say that having too many widgets is almost as wrong as having too much ads on a website; one annoys the visitors while the other makes them wait.

6 - Focus On SEO Traffic: high search ranking optimization for the right keywords will always bring floods of TARGETED traffic that wants to read what you have to offer.

7 - Comparing: Compare the page which gets lower bounce rate with the page that gets higher. Ask your friends and other fellow bloggers the difference between them. This one helps a lot

8 - Remove Autoplay Videos: This is my opinion. I’ll close the site immediately if it starts singing. Remove the video altogether, or at least have it paused.

9 - Optimize 404 Page: Many blogs have ugly 404 error page. That makes the bounce rate to bounce more. Your visitors will leave your site and look elsewhere for the information they were looking for. So optimize the error page. Provide some solutions and suggestions there.

10 - Optimize The Sidebar: Remove all those useless and time consuming widgets from your site’s sidebar and try to include widgets such as “Popular Posts” and “Recent Articles”. You can also use “tag cloud” in the sidebar.

Difference Between No Follow and Do Follow Links

Difference Between No Follow and Do Follow Links

When we talk about the term Search Engine Optimization, Don’t we come across some terms like ‘dofollow’ or ‘nofollow’ links which are always been an important terms of SEO??? We often hear about dofollow blogs or we sometimes see some sites sharing a list of dofollow blogs and many other things on this topic. Many of the readers may not know about what is actually dofollow and nofollow. This thing will also enlighten newbies about one of the major concept of SEO i.e. ‘dofollow’ and ‘nofollow’ !!!

Search Engines use links to go through all the sites on the web. What happens actually is Google bots visit your blog to go through it completely. Your content, keywords, links, etc. So, when talking about links, bots crawl through your website and find various links on your blogs; and these links can be of two types- either nofollow or dofollow where both the terms are completely opposite to each other.

Nofollow is an HTML attribute of the tag rel which tell the Search Engine bots to not to follow this link.

In WordPress, by default, all the comments are having Nofollow attribute but they can be easily removed using plugins and all the comments in it made in the past and future will be dofollow as it removes the nofollow tag from all the comments. And in even blogger,by default, all the comments are marked as nofollow but it can be tweaked to dofollow by removing the rel=”nofollow” tag from the HTML section.

In a case where your blog is dofollow, when a bot finds a link on your blog, it follows it and lands on another page. Do you know, this is the way only bots come to know about your websites and helps to index or cache them and display it in search results.

However, as I said earlier that dofollow and nofollow are completely opposite to each other. In a dofollow case, the bot follows your blog lands to another page but In a nofollow case i.e. if the link is nofollow, this nofollow tag tell the search engines or the bots to NOT to follow this links to any other websites. So, the bit won’t be able to follow that link. So, nofollow tag does not allows the bot to follow a link.

So, that’s it in the introduction part of nofollow and dofollow links. Hope you understand this concept in a better manner as I explained it with the help of examples.
